How We Review Betting Apps
Understand how Safe Betting Apps researches UK bookmakers, calculates editorial ratings, handles offer information and corrections, and distinguishes featured listings.

What our reviews are designed to do
Safe Betting Apps helps adults compare betting services available in Great Britain. Our reviews bring together the legal operator, recorded UK licence details, published features and dated welcome-offer information. The aim is to help you understand what to check before choosing whether to register, not to promise that any bookmaker is risk-free.
Andrew Breeds is the named author behind the website. His stated experience is more than 20 years in the betting industry. Authorship identifies responsibility for the content; it is not a regulatory accreditation or proof that every app has been personally tested.
Desk research, not a hands-on testing claim
The current reviews are desk-researched profiles. Their ratings do not measure personally tested deposits, withdrawals, bet settlement, customer support response times or native-app performance. A feature described in published material is not the same as a feature independently tested on a particular device.
App and mobile-site images are visual references. An archived interface or screenshot does not establish current app availability, compatibility or offer eligibility. We do not treat a mobile-style image frame as evidence of a native iPhone or Android app.
How the five-point editorial rating works
One shared calculation supplies the numerical score on each review and its listings. The five categories add to a maximum of five points, with the total rounded to one decimal place. These are editorial evidence scores, not customer reviews, a probability of winning or an assurance that an operator is suitable for you.
UK licence evidence: up to 1.5 points. A profile marked as having verified licence evidence receives 1.5; otherwise it receives zero. This reflects the recorded research, not a live regulator check on every page visit.
Published significant terms: up to 1 point. Recorded terms of at least 100 characters receive 1 point; shorter, non-empty terms receive 0.5; missing terms receive zero. This measures the presence of information, not whether the offer is generous, fair or currently available.
Welcome-offer clarity: up to 1 point. A missing offer or an offer identified as expired receives zero. A recorded conflict receives 0.3, a partner-restricted offer 0.6 and a casino-only offer 0.5; otherwise the score is 1. These are flags in the available evidence, not an automated guarantee that every outdated or contradictory promotion has been identified.
Documented betting features: up to 1 point. The calculation counts published references across cash out, live betting, bet builders, streaming or score information, racing, accumulator features and esports. Three or more categories receive 1 point, two receive 0.8, one receives 0.6 and none receives 0.3. That baseline is not proof of performance or a missing feature being available.
Mobile reference evidence: up to 0.5 points. An app reference receives 0.5, another mobile reference 0.3, a desktop-only reference 0.1 and no reference zero. This category concerns available imagery, not a hands-on usability assessment. The breakdown in each review shows its individual category scores.
Featured placements are different from rating order
The homepage hero is a featured shortlist, not a list sorted strictly by the highest numerical score. The main homepage directory begins with the same featured five. A featured bookmaker can therefore appear above one with a higher editorial score.
The first featured positions are editorially selected. The remaining hero positions are drawn from eligible sports-betting profiles with recorded licence evidence, a visit URL and a logo, ordered by score and then name; BetTom is excluded from that shortlist. Inclusion and position are not a claim that an app is best for every reader. Compare the underlying review rather than relying on placement alone.
A placement label or an outbound link does not itself establish whether a commercial arrangement exists. Do not interpret this policy as a claim that all links are affiliate links, or that all placements are unpaid. Questions about a particular placement or relationship can be sent to our editorial contact.
Licence checks and the meaning of “safe”
A brand and its legal licence holder can have different names. Our profiles record that relationship and provide a clickable licence number where a matching register link is available. A reader should check that the current register entry covers the operator and activities they intend to use.
A UK Gambling Commission licence is a regulatory starting point, not an endorsement of this website, a promise of account security or protection from losses. References to safe betting apps concern checks such as licensing and account controls. Gambling itself remains risky, including with a licensed operator.
Bonuses, conflicting terms and evidence dates
Offers are research snapshots, not live availability promises. A headline must be read with its significant terms and the operator’s current full rules. Eligibility can depend on a specific marketing partner, code, opt-in, payment method or previous account history. A direct visit does not guarantee that an advertised promotion will apply.
Where recorded terms conflict with a headline, readers should not assume the more generous interpretation is correct. Expired offers and unclear restrictions require clarification; casino rewards must not be presented as sports-betting credit. Do not deposit simply to find out whether an uncertain offer applies.
An article update date records an editorial change. It does not mean that the licence, offer and mobile reference were all rechecked on that date. The separately displayed evidence dates identify the relevant research snapshot; refreshing a design or correcting wording does not refresh that evidence.
Corrections and commercial enquiries
To report an error, email info@safebettingapps.co.uk with the page URL, the wording in question and the factual detail we should examine. Useful reports identify the relevant operator, promotion or date. Remove account numbers and personal information from screenshots; never send passwords, card details or identity documents.
Corrections should be supported by information that addresses the disputed claim. A bookmaker’s request is not, by itself, evidence that criticism or an offer restriction should be removed. Anyone contacting us on an operator’s behalf should identify their commercial interest. We do not promise a response deadline or publication of every suggested change.
Commercial enquiries should be identified as such, rather than submitted as reader feedback. This page documents the current research method; it does not certify any unverified sponsorship, payment arrangement or independent external audit.
Our scope and reader safeguards
The directory is not an inventory of every UK-licensed betting app. Topic guides explain specific questions, but a bookmaker’s overall rating is not evidence that it supports a particular payment method, sport or device. Check the relevant feature and current terms directly before making a decision.
All content is for adults aged 18 and over. Betting is not an income strategy, and no rating overrides a personal limit, time-out or self-exclusion. Our contact inbox is not bookmaker customer support or a gambling counselling service. Use the dedicated safer-gambling page and footer support information if gambling is causing concern.
